Essay Feedback
I offer assistance to students who would like feedback and suggestions for revision on their writing assignments for school or for college applications.
The Process:
- A parent or student emails me regarding assignment feedback, stating the nature of the assignment and due date.
- Once they hear back from me, the student shares their assignment with me through Google Docs.
- The fee for this service will be added to the next month’s tuition invoice.
- The following is provided to the student within 24 hours:
- a custom made revising/editing checklist
- comments on the Google Doc
- notes and reference sheets
5. Students email me if they have any questions about the feedback or need help making the revisions.

Skype Writing Classes
One on one and group writing classes are available for students who live far from the classroom but would still like to participate in writing classes. Tuition for Skype classes is the same as regular classes ($48 per hour for one on one and $28 per hour for group).
Group Classes
Students join a Skype video conference to attend each week. Classes are conducted very similarly to regular group classes, so please refer to the curriculum page for more information. Occasionally, the weekly Skype class will consist of twenty minute one on one meetings between myself and each individual student to provide customized feedback and instruction.
One on One Classes
One one one Skype classes are available with very limited openings. Students receive customized instruction based on their individual needs and areas for improvement through weekly one hour Skype sessions and Google Docs.
Independent Study Writing Instruction
Online independent study writing classes are available for 7th-12th graders who are looking for a writing class or help with school assignments, but need flexibility in their work time. Students correspond with Miss Caitlin through email and Google Docs in order to receive assignments, lessons on writing strategies and techniques, as well as comments and critique of their work.
Format
Students receive the following content and assistance from me weekly at the cost of $30 per week. Each week, students receive
- Assignments: Students receive new assignments each time a previous one is completed. Some assignments can be completed in just a week, others may be completed through a 1-2 month writing process. We can also work on school assignments if needed.
- Revision: Key elements to edit and revise are identified through custom made checklists or directly on student drafts through Google Docs
- Lessons:1-2 Writing Strategy documents are shared, providing lessons for improving upon specific components of effective writing.
- Supplemental Material: Worksheets or short assignments are assigned if needed, to solidify difficult concepts or focus on vocabulary, grammar, etc.
- Assistance: Students are free to contact Miss Caitlin throughout the week by email or text message for further feedback or answers to questions they may have.
Homework
Weekly homework for writing classes generally involve most of the following:
- Writing and/or revising of essays and any additional writing assignments
- Application of new writing strategies to the assignment
- Completion of worksheets and short assignments
- Reading of example texts, literature, or other material
Each week’s homework should take anywhere from 1-3 hours to complete. The workload is determined by the amount of time the student is willing to commit to the class. If a student is looking to commit to more than 2 hours, two classes per week is recommended.
Curriculum
Over the course of the school year, students work on curriculum similar to that of the group classes, as well as any specific English language arts concepts that need extra attention. Please visit the curriculum tab above for an idea of the general curriculum. Alternatively, the curriculum we work on can solely consist of the assignments that the student receives from class at school.
